Visa Information

There are two types of Myanmar Visa called EVT(Package) and EVT(FIT) visa.

EVT ( Package )

You can apply Myanmar visa at Myanmar Embassy or consulate with prior arrangements and confirmation from us. We will be providing a confirmation letter to the Embassy for those clients who bought a tour from us. A copy of the letter will be send to you by fax or e-mail. We need full name, passport numbers, nationality and 3 Photos.

EVT ( FIT)

This visa can apply at every Myanmar Embassy or consulate by submitting passport and 3 photographs! Visa fee is USD 20. It was necessary to change USD 200 in to equivalent 200 FEC compulsorily till last Sep 2003. Now government relaves it. You don't need to change FEC 200 on arrival at Yangon Airport. We encourage you to apply EVT( Package ) visa.

MYANMAR PRE-APPROVED VISA ON ARRIVAL

The normal visa can be obtain at the Myanmar Embassies or Consulate in abroad. The visa fee is USD 20. Normally, it takes about one week to get the visa at the Myanmar Embassies.

For those who live in the places and countries where the Myanmar Embassies or Consulates are not located, we are able to help you get the pre-approval letter for visa on arrival. Our service charges is 30 US$. So that your total is US$ 50. For pre-approval visa it will take about minimum 30 days. After we get the pre-approval letter will email to you with attached file then show this letter to your airline for boarding pass. Visa fee is USD 20 which has to pay directly to Yangon airport immigration and one of our staff will meet and assist you at the airport on arrival. We need the detail specification as follows:

    Visa Application Procedure For Tourists With Effective From 01 October 2005

This is the result of Visa on arrival board announcement. The board includes Ministry of Hotel and Tourism, Ministry of Home Affairs, Department of Immigration, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. There must be minimum of 2 persons travelling together to get the approval.

Application Procedure

  1. Visitor must apply Visa-on-arrival through licensed tour company from Ministry of Hotel and Tourism.

  2. Visitor must fill in the Visa Application Form. You may submit through web form or download here and send a copy by fax to +951 536470 (95=Myanmar country code, 1= Yangon area code, 5136470 is our Tel/Fax no.) or as an attachment via email -

  3. Send a passport photo and copy of your passport by email or fax (preferably email).

  4. Upon approval, we will send you the 'Approval Letter' by email/fax.

  5. All the airlines with connections to Yangon are informed of this procedure and you may show this 'Approval Letter' on airline check in.

  6. Upon arriving at Yangon International Airport, you have to present this 'Approval Letter' to the Immigration check in counter, get Visa Fees 20 US$ ready and immigration Officer will take it from there. If you choose to take Visa-on-arrival-transfer Semi-package from us, one of our staff will be there to initiate all entry procedures and meet and greet you.

Accommodation

Hotels situation in Myanmar has improved enormously, most obviously in Yangon, Mandalay, Bagan, Inle and Ngapali beach. A budget cost between 5$ and 10$ generally without A/C, and with shared baths. A room cost range at 20-100$ with a bathtub- warm water and a/c, refrigerator and satellite channel Television.

Travel Restriction

Generally main tourist attraction places are freedom of movement. Mogok ( the Ruby mine and Phagant (Jade mine) a special travel permit is required CHIN State and KAYAH State remains completely off limits to tourists.

Taxi and Rental Car

In Yangon taxis are everywhere, the charges don't go by meters, depends on how far the distance and negotiate with the driver before you get in the car.

Currency

Basically the currencies circulating in Myanmar are: US $, FEC ( Foreign Exchange Currency ), and Kyat. Myanmar currency denominations are 1/5/10/20/50/100/200/500/1000. For Tourist bill, such as air ticket, hotel, train, travel tour, fees, Entrance for sightseeing place have to be settled in American dollars or FEC. Money exchange into Kyats occurs mainly on the outside market.

Tipping

Tipping is generally appreciated, a significant part of the income of tour guides and tour bus drivers, waiters, porters or maids. In simple restaurants or snack bars, however tipping is not expected.

Weights and measures

There are specifically Myanmar weight units, a viss equivalent to 1.6kg and comprises a 100 ticals, one tical is 16.3g ,gasoline sold by the gallon ( 1gallon- 4.5 liters ) fabric by the yard ( gaik, equivalent to 91.5cm ). The distance is in mile.

Temple Etiquettes

There are certain rules you must keep in the order to show your respect .Throughout Myanmar wherever you enter religious grounds, you must remove your shoes or sandals and socks .Many shrines will have a sign posted to remind you: "Food-wear prohibited" You can also show your respect by wearing proper clothing at a temple –especially, no short skirts for women and no brief shorts.
